西北工业大学物理科学与技术学院的前身是1987年创建的应用物理系。2003年应用物理系与应用数学系、化学工程系合并为理学院,2019年11月,物理科学与技术学院正式成立。
物理科学与技术学院秉承我校“公诚勇毅”校训、“三实一新”校风,坚持“以学生为根、以育人为本、以学者为要、以学术为魂、以责任为重”的办学理念,依托学校三航优势,瞄准国家军民重大需求,努力建设成以应用理科为特色的高水平、研究型、国际化的物理学院。
The predecessor of School of Physical Science and Technology of Northwestern Polytechnical University was the Department of Applied Physics established in 1987. In 2003, the Department of Applied Physics, Department of Applied Mathematics, and Department of Chemical Engineering merged into the Faculty of Science. In November 2019, the Faculty of Physical Science and Technology was formally established.
The college has three undergraduate majors: materials physics, applied physics, and optoelectronic information science and engineering; materials physics and chemistry second-level doctoral/master programs, physics and optical engineering two first-level disciplines doctoral/master programs, and materials and Two professional master's programs in chemical engineering and electronic information. There are three post-doctoral mobile stations in materials science and engineering, physics and optical engineering.
The undergraduate major of materials physics and the major of optoelectronic information science and engineering were approved as the national "first-class undergraduate major" construction site in 2019 and 2021, respectively, and the applied physics was approved as the "first-class undergraduate major" construction site in Shaanxi Province. Material physics and chemistry are national "double first-class" construction disciplines and national key disciplines, and optical engineering is a key construction discipline of Shaanxi Province. Physics enters the top 1% of ESI's global subject rankings.
