NOMINATION & APPLICATION

Step 1: Home University selects students to NPU.

Step 2: Home University sends required nomination letter to NPU.

Step 3: NPU guides nominees to finish the online application on NPU application portal (https://admission.nwpu.edu.cn/)

• Choose “exchange program”, filling the application form online and click “submit”.

• Application Deadline for nominated candidates：

   Step 4: Scholarship interview.

Step 5: NPU issues the admission and visa document.

Step 6: Offline Registration at NPU.

Eligibility

1. Must be enrolled students from partner institutions;

2. Must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport；

3. Undergraduate students must complete at least two semesters at their home institution. Postgraduate students must complete at least one semester at their home institution.

Admission Documents

1.A copy of the personal information page of your valid passport. (the validity of passport should be more than 6 months).

2. Studying certificate officially issued by home university.

3. Academic transcripts at home university.

4. Language proficiency certificate (IELTS 6.0 or TOFEL 80 or Duolingo 115. Not required for native speakers).

5. Personal statement (It is required to finish by the NPU template).

6. Supervisor Acceptance Letter (Only for PhD candidates).

7. Non-criminal record certificate (produced within last six months).

8. Copy of "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" (valid for six months), which shall be deemed invalid if it is incomplete, lacks the applicant’s photograph, has no cross-seal on the photograph, or is not signed and sealed by the examining physician and hospital.

• All the above application materials must be in English or Chinese. Notarized English or Chinese translations is required if materials are in other languages.

Deferral Issue

Exchange students who have already been admitted cannot directly apply for a deferral through the NPU International College. Students who wish to defer must:

(1) Reapply through students’ home institution for next semester;

(2) Submit a new application on the NPU Portal and go through the application process again.

All relevant parties are required to strictly follow these regulations to ensure the smooth operation of the exchange student program.

BEFORE ARRIVAL

Visa application

All students are required to apply for Student Visa (X1/X2) at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your country with your passport, Admission Notice and DQ/JW202 Form. Any other type of visa is not accepted.

Insurance

All students MUST purchase the Comprehensive Insurance one day ahead before arrival in China by themselves online. The detailed purchase method will be shared with students before their arrival.

Accommodation

The dormitory location will be arranged based on the student's school. For location of each school, please refer to:

Exchange students do not need to book in advance on NPU Portal. The counsellor will arrange accommodations for admitted exchange students.

AFTER ARRIVAL

On-site Registration

The time for on-site registration would be before the end of February (Spring semester) or end of August (Fall semester). Specific date will be announced in the admission notice and official notification email. Candidates who fail to register as requested without a valid reason will have their admission canceled. Please note that early registration is not recommended.

Courses Selection

The course selection will be processed in the NPU student Aoxiang portal, which can only be activated when students finish the on-site registration. When Aoxiang Portal has been activating, all students will select the courses by following the instructions at the certain periods. Please check the course list attached below.

Reminder:

1. Please note that the course information provided herein may be subject to change before course registration.

2. Some courses may have limited enrollment.

3. Some schools may only have the courses available for master-level exchange students.

4. Chinese language course and Brief introduction of China will be opened to exchange students for this program each semester. Students are free to register if there is no time conflict with other courses. Please note that the Chinese language course in Spring semester is not for beginners.

5. Each university requires students to complete a Learning Agreement to confirm their intended course selections. Please note that due to limitations in course capacity and availability, the final course enrollment will be subject to actual circumstances. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee that students will be able to enroll in all their preferred courses.
