Chinese Government Scholarships-University Program
In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote China’s exchange and cooperation with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities.
The China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as “CSC”), entrusted by China’s Ministry of Education, is responsible for the admission, enrollment and administration of Chinese Government Scholarship recipients.
I. Scholarship Categories and Application
The University Program (Type B) is designed to finance the study of talented international students in China that are directly and recommended by designated Chinese universities.
l Application receiving agency for University Program: Applicants shall file the application with Northwestern Polytechnical University for this program.
l NPU is offering the University Program to Master and PhD international students.

The first batch: November 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026, 17:00 (GMT+8).
The second batch: January 1, 2027 - February 28, 2027, 17:00 (GMT+8).
Note:
The application deadlines refer to the closing date for submissions via the Online Application System of NPU. In accordance with the requirements of CSC, NPU will submit the list of recommended candidates for this project in batches.

2. Duration
The University Program covers major study period. The duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required.

III. Scholarship and Coverage
1. Type of the scholarship
Full scholarship covers the tuition fee, dormitory fee, stipend and medical insurance.
Partial scholarship covers one or some items of the full scholarship.
2. Details of the coverage
(1) Tuition fees;
(2) University dormitory or accommodation subsidy;
(3) Stipend:
Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;
Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.
Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive a stipend from their host university each month. Students registering on or before the 15th of the month will receive a full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive a half stipend of that month. If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days due to a personal reason (school holidays excluded), his stipend will be suspended during the period of absence.
(4) Comprehensive medical insurance: CNY 800 per person per year;

Applicants for University Program are required to fulfill the admission requirements of NPU in academic competence, English proficiency, supervisor’s acceptance and other relevant criteria. For details, please refer to:

V. Application Process
Applicants must submit their applications for Chinese Government Scholarships University Program through NPU.
1. An applicant shall learn about the programs and majors NPU offers by visiting websites: https://studyat.nwpu.edu.cn/;
2. Applicants shall prepare application documents in accordance with the application requirements and complete the online application via NPU Portal (https://admission.nwpu.edu.cn/) no later than the deadlines. Incomplete or unqualified applications will be dismissed or rejected. The University Program applications not submitted through the NPU’s official application portal will not be accepted;
3. Applicants must undergo two rounds of material-review evaluations, interviews and comprehensive assessment. NPU International Student Admissions Office will provide Pre-admission Notice for candidates qualified for recommendation of this Program;
4. An applicant shall fill in and submit the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (http://www.campuschina.org);
5. NPU will review the CSC applications that are submitted by candidates of this program;
6. NPU shall submit the recommended candidates list and their application documents to CSC in batches as required;
7. CSC will organize designated universities and experts concerned to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates;
8. The CSC will notify NPU of the admission results, and NPU will then inform the applicants accordingly.
