生命学院的前身为“生命科学院”,成立于2004年4月,2010年3月正式更名为“生命学院”,成为学校第十五个专业学院。面临“十三五”和“双一流”建设,学院的发展定位是:以国家航天、航空和航海领域重大需求为牵引,以生命科学主流学科为支撑,将基础学科与技术、工程学科交叉融合、基础研究与应用研究相贯通,旨在建成学科特色鲜明、国际知名、国内一流的高水平人才培养与科学研究基地。
The School of Life Sciences, Northwestern Polytechnical University, formerly known as the "Faculty of Life Sciences", was established in April 2004. It has been officially renamed to the current one since it became the 15th academic school of the university in March 2010. The School of Life Sciences aims at establishing a qualified training base for competitive talents and an outstanding research base with distinct discipline characteristics. The mission of the school includes serving the national demands in the field of aeronautics, astronautics, and marine sciences as well as facilitating the inter-discipline and cutting-edge scientific researches in both fundamental sciences and engineering.
The School of Life Sciences mainly conducts the scientific research and education in Space Life Sciences, including Space Biology and Biotechnology, Aerospace Medicine & Engineering, and Magnetic Biology. The scientific researches focus on improving current understanding of the mechanisms behind the molecular, cellular and biological observations during space flights, as well as developing pharmaceutical biotechnology and bio-medical engineering products. Now the inter-discipline scientific research has become one of the highlights of the school.
During the past 16 years, the School of Life Sciences has undertaken more than 525 research projects, among which 225 are national and provincial projects. More than 623 papers, including nearly 435 articles in well-recognized international journals, have been published. Furthermore, 68 patents have been granted.

生物医学工程系成立于2011年10月,共有32名教师,包括7名教授、11名副教授、9名讲师、5名博士后研究员。生物医学工程系拥有一流的生物医学工程博士学位,由航空医学工程、蛋白质工程和药物设计、生物电磁技术、生物医学材料、生物医学图像和信息处理五门学科组成。本专业依托的教学科研平台包括:工业和信息化部“空间生物实验模拟技术国防重点学科实验室”、 “陕西省生命科学实验教学示范中心”、“陕西省柔性电子与健康科学国际联合研究中心”、西安市“特种医学与健康工程重点实验室”等。
Department of biomedical engineering was founded in October 2011,with a total of 32 teachers, including 7 professors, 11 associate professors, 9 lecturer, 5 postdoctoral researcher. Department of Biomedical Engineering has one first-class doctor degree---discipline biomedical engineering and consists of five disciplines: aerospace medical engineering, protein engineering and drug design, bio electromagnetic technology, biomedical materials, biomedical image and information processing. The teaching and scientific research platforms supported by this major include "national defense key discipline laboratory of space biological experiment simulation technology" of the Ministry of industry and information technology "," Shaanxi life science experiment teaching demonstration center "," Shaanxi international joint research center of flexible electronics and health science ", Xi'an" Key Laboratory of special medicine and health engineering ", etc.
