Located in the historic city of Xi'an, cradle of Chinese civilization and terminus of the ancient Silk Road, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) is the only multidisciplinary and research-oriented in China that is simultaneously developing education and research programs in the fields of aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology engineering. NPU is one of the first 22 universities to have established a graduate school. It was one of the first universities to enter into the 211 Project in 1995 and the 985 Project in 2001. I.Description
TheBilateral Programincludes a full or partial scholarship established by Ministry of Education in accordance with educational exchange agreements or consensus between the Chinese government and foreign governments, institutions, universities or international organizations.
II.Duration and Standard of the Scholarship
The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language(preparatory study).Undergraduate scholarship students must obtain the HSK4 certificate andregister for Chinese-taught credit courses.Graduate scholarship students can register for either the Chinese-taught program or the English-taught program if applicable.For students applying for English medium courses, an IELTS score 5.5 or equivalent to other English proficency certificate is required ( forthose applying fromnon-english speakingcountries).

III.Eligibility
1.Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health.
2.The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:
lbe a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for the undergraduate programs;
lbe a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs;
lbe a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs;
lbe under the age of 45 and have a high school diploma(or higher)when applying for the general scholar programs;
lbe a master’s degree holder or an associate professor(or above)under the age of 50 when applying for the senior scholar programs.
3.Applicants are not required to have HSK examination results or Chinese language learning experience because NPU offers classes in English medium;
4.Applicants should have good academic marks;
5.Applicants should have strong capacity in scientific research.
IV.Application Time
Applicantsneed to apply between early January and early April. Please consult thedispatching authorities for the specific deadline of each year.
V. Application Procedure
Step 1-Apply to NPU for the Pre-admission Letter.
Step 2-Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for CGS opportunity.
Step 3-Get the recommendation from the dispatching authorities.
Step 4-Complete the online applicationprocedure at CGS Information System(Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org and click“Application Online”to log in), submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy. You should consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for Instructions of CGS Information System and Agency Number (The ProgramCategory Type is A).
Step 5 - Submit all of your application documents to the dispatching authorities of your home country before the deadline.

Notes:
1. When applicants apply online,please provide the address, passport No. and contact No. correctly and in detail since we will send the admission notice with this information.
2. Notarized highest diploma or certificate. If the applicant is studying in university or working in company, he/she has to submit the studentship certificate (notifying graduation time) or working certificate produced by his/her university or company. If the certificate is not in English or Chinese, it has to be notarized in English or Chinese.
3. Transcripts or notarized transcripts if they are neither English nor Chinese.
4. A Study plan in English or Chinese (not less than200 words for undergraduateapplicants,not less than500 words for non-degreeapplicants,not less than 800 wordsfor master’s degree applicants;not less than1500wordsfor doctor’s degree applicants).
5. Recommendation letters in English or Chinese by two professors or associate professors.
6. Physical Examination Form. Applicants should follow strictly the requirements of the Physical Examination Form. It will be invalid if there is page missing, or no photo or no seal on the perforation or no signature by the hospital or doctor in the form. The result of the examination will be valid for 6 months.
