1.Duration and Degree

2.Application Timeline

First batch: November 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026

Second batch: January 1, 2027 to February 28, 2027

Third batch: March 1, 2027 to April 15, 2027

Fourth batch: April 16, 2027 to May 20, 2027

*Only September autumn intake is available.

  The application portal will be automatically closed once the enrollment quota of any major is filled.

3.Eligibility Criteria

(1)Good physical and mental health (no infectious or contagious diseases and no physical or mental disorders that could interfere with regular study).

(2)Applicants shall be under the age of 23 as of September 1, 2027, with a date of birth on or after September 2, 2004..

(3) Applicants shall have obtained a formal high school graduation certificate or equivalent diploma by September 1, 2027.

(4) Applicants shall demonstrate strong learning competence and maintain a satisfactory academic performance. The minimum required average score for previous academic studies is 75% or above. Northwestern Polytechnical University recognizes internationally standardized test results including SAT (Score Send Code: 54421), A-Level, IB, or regional unified high school examination results.

Applicants are required to submit valid scores of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) upon application.

* Suggested testing dates are November and December 2026 and January, March and April 2027. Please pay attention to the official website of CSCA www.csca.cn for specific test arrangements.

(5)Language proficiency

Applicants shall demonstrate Chinese or English language proficiency that meets the program's admission requirements.

*Applicants who do not meet the above language requirements are advised to refer to our international foundation program for further information.

(6) Nationality Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport.

For applicants who were formerly Chinese citizens: they must have obtained foreign nationality and completed

Chinese nationality renunciation before April 30, 2023

They shall also have a record of actual foreign residency of no less than 2 years from April 30, 2023

to April 30, 2027 (one full year of residency is counted as 9 months of actual physical presence in a 12-month period, verified by entry and exit passport stamps).

For applicants with one or both parents being Chinese citizens, one of the following supporting documents must be submitted:

(1) An official certificate proving that the applicant acquired foreign nationality by birth;

(2) For applicants who were formerly Chinese citizens and later immigrated to other countries: official documents verifying the cancellation of their Chinese household registration and renunciation of Chinese nationality.

4.Application Materials

(1) A clear scanned copy of the personal information page of a valid foreign passport.

The passport must remain valid at least until October 31, 2027. Applicants currently residing in Chinese mainland are also required to submit a scanned copy of their currently valid Chinese visa or residence permit page.

(2) Scanned copies of high school graduation diploma and full academic transcripts. All documents shall be either original certified copies or officially notarized versions.

(3) Personal statement (completed based on the official given template), curriculum vitae (CV), and optional talent demonstration video (if applicable).

(4) Official test score report of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA).

(5) Valid Chinese or English language proficiency certificate.

    Language certificates can be waived under the following circumstances:

   Applicants who are native Chinese speakers applying for Chinese-taught programs

   Applicants who are native English speakers applying for English-taught programs

(6) Official non-criminal record certificate, issued within the last 6 months prior to application.

(7) Officially certified copies of awards and scientific research achievement certificates (if applicable).

(8) Scanned copy of the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" (valid for 6 months). The form will be deemed

invalid if it is incomplete, lacks the applicant’s photograph, has no official cross-seal across the photograph, or is not signed and sealed by both the examining physician and the issuing hospital.

(9) As of November 1, 2027, minor applicants under the age of 18 must submit a Guardian Guarantee Letter, completed based on the official given template.

(10) Personal or sponsor’s bank statements covering the latest 6 months, with a minimum remaining balance equivalent to no less than 5000 USD.

(11) Any other supplementary documents as specifically requested by the admissions office.

2) All the above application materials must be in English or Chinese. Notarized English or Chinese translations is required if materials are in other languages.

5.How to Apply

Step 1 – Documents Preparation

Applicants must meet all requirements and prepare application materials accordingly.

Step 2 – Complete online application

Create an account and log into the NPU online application portal at (http://admission.nwpu.edu.cn/ ) to complete the application.

I.The NPU online application portal is the only acceptable application gate. After completing the application, a non-refundable fee (600 RMB/ about 90 USD) must be paid to validate the application.

II.A valid e-mail address should be used to register for the online application system. The Admissions Office will send application results and notifications to this e-mail address.

III.Applicants should upload required documents before deadline.

Step 3 - Application Materials Review

1. The Admissions Office will review the authenticity of materials.

2. Academic schools will review the applicants’ academic competency. The review process takes approximately ten working days. All qualified applicants will be invited for a follow-up interview.

3. Applicants need to pay attention to the review status on the application system, and their e-mail promptly as well for process and feedback.

Step 4 – Interview

1.Qualified applicants will receive e-mail notifications regarding the interview method, content and time. Applicants should attend the interview according to specified instructions.

2.The Admissions office will announce the results via e-mail a week after the interview.

Step 5 – Registration Deposit

Pre-admitted students must pay the registration deposit.

* Students with Elite and First Prize Scholarship need to pay 3000RMB;

Students who do not obtain the full scholarship need to pay the remaining tuition as the deposit.

(Seceond Prize-50% Tuition fee, Third Prize-75% tuition fee, Self-funded students- All tuition fee;

The deposit will be refunded around the November-December of the academic year after on-site registration; The deposit of unregistered students will not be refunded.)  

Methods of Payment

I.Online payment

Applicants pay the fee via the online application system. Recommended method.

II. Local bank or online wire transfer

After payment complete, applicants need to upload the wire-transfer receipts or proof of payment vouchers in the application system. The applicant's passport numbers must be indicated on the receipts or payment vouchers. For the bank account details, kindly refer to the official website of NPU International College.

Step 6 - Issue Admission Documents

After payment confirmation, Admissions Office will send digital version of Admission notice and JW202 to admitted students via email.

Step 7 - Registration

1.Admitted students must complete online and offline registration processes at the Admissions Office before deadline. Usually around late August to early September, 2027.

2.Admitted candidates should go to Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad to apply for study (X1) visa with passport, Admission Notice and "Visa Application Form for Studying in China."

The transfer receipt is absolutely required and needs to be uploaded to the application portal. The verification usually takes 1 or 2 working days.

7. Scholarship

(1)Scholarship Details

* For applicants to the CSC undergraduate program, it is required to obtain at least HSK Level 3 certification in Chinese proficiency before requesting the pre-admission letter.

CSC Type A has a specific major and quota restrictions. Please check from official notification.

*All scholarship recipients must attend the annual comprehensive review. The evaluation determines eligibility for continued or reinstated scholarship benefits. Students failing the criteria will face scholarship downgrade or cancellation. No upward tier adjustment is allowed in the annual review, and final tiers are adjusted strictly based on evaluation results.

(2)Scholarship Results

(I) University will process about four batches of applicant selections based on the application order. Applicants will receive the result announcement via registered email. Early applicants will be given merit-based priority.

(II) If awarded, applicants will receive only one scholarship funded by either the Chinese government or NPU.

(III) After being admitted by NPU, applicants will not be able to change their programs, majors, learning language, or study period. Consideration for any special circumstances may require additional approvals from the university.

8. Process Supervision

(1) The whole process of selection and admission will be strictly regulated by the university and follows the principle of openness, fairness, and academic integrity.

(2) Any dishonesty during the selection and admission process will lead to admission or studentship cancellation.
